I LOVE WRITING! It’s too awesome to put words to my emotions that were unintelligible. Now that I have started to write consistently I’m noticing a few patterns.
I am not the best speaker. I love to talk and everything, but it is sooo hard for my to convey many of my emotions out loud. It seems easy on paper. Also, my written vocabulary is probably double the size of my spoken vocabulary. I curse so much more when writing, and I use a lot of words that I didn’t even know I knew.
Does anyone else notice those types of things…I hope it’s not just me!
Hi, yes it is the same with me, I think it must be something to do with how listeners react when one is speaking, where as when one writes one is writing in a little bubble of of complete attention. Conversations can sometimes be real battles with seperate parties fighting to be heard and validated.
When you are writing you have an opportunity to really contemplate and gather your thoughts, but when you are speaking you don’t really have the same opportunity. When we are writing, we are making a conscious effort to use our best communication, but this is often not true when we are speaking. When we are speaking, it can often be more of a rush to get the desired point across.
You both make a lot of sense. I long to be articulate in conversation, but that may just not be me…
